God Gave Me You

I've been thinking lately about the Lord's hand in my life.
It amazes me how the older I get the harder life gets.
But yet at the same time its only that much more incredible and that much more fulfilling.
I live with some of the greatest girls.
I've known four (five including Bren) of them for almost two years now.
They undoubtedly came into my life when I needed them most.
My close friends from high school all got married or went on missions, and I felt terribly alone.
And then I met my roommates.
We've been through a lot together.
On Sunday, I went to a fireside in Bountiful and ran into Brenna, who has been in Italy for the past month and a half.
Probably one of the happiest moments ever.
Gosh, I love that girl.
The other night a couple of us were sitting in the hall while one of my roommates was crying.
As we sat there for a long time trying to console her, I thought about the way things work out in life.
I think that all 7 of us (I'm including Brenna even though she is at home) have had some difficult times in the past couple of months.
From broken hearts, to missionaries, to just the hard aspects of life, we've all had something big going on in our lives.
And the ironic part is that a lot of the things we are each individually going through are weirdly similar to each other.
Coincidence?
I don't think so.
I think that the Lord placed these girls into my life at a time when only they could help me get through the rough times.
It doesn't necessarily make things better, but it makes it just a tiny bit easier knowing that they love me and want me to be happy.
I wonder where I would be in life without the people that God has given me.
I can name at least a dozen other people that I believe the Lord has given me to get me through the ups and downs.
But today I'm grateful for these girls.
I believe that God gave them to me to help through this time in my life.
How blessed am I.

I feel like this song, my new favorite, is appropriate for this post:
